- Cute bar but with uninspiring vegan meals
Having lived in Lille for 6 mths and predominantly made my own home cooked vegan meals my boyf and I wanted to give this place a go. I'll be gentle. The bar itself is cute and cozy and they appear to have a nice selection of drinks. It's important to note I think - We came for lunch on a Friday. The Monday of the next week they were closed for a week - so this might have had an impact on the food and thus on my review. They offer a daily menu with a selection of a soup, plate of the day and a dessert. We ordered two plates of the day - Tofu omelette with roasted potatoes and a salad. Uninspiring and sloped on the plate. The salad was a pathetic 1/4 piece of lettuce leaf with some white sauce dribbled on top and the potatoes were more oil than potato and the actual omelette wasn't my thing. For dessert there was a Cashew cream and rice milk pudding topped with a selection of fresh fruits - except what was served to us was 1/4 cup of off white liquid with a spoon in it, no fruit. (See photo). Either they forgot the fruit or they had run out??? Considering this is the only vegan restaurant in a city of non vegan I would have expected more from this place (to attract customers make good vegan food). There was no love in this food at all. At the end of the day you'll still get a edible vegan meal but I wouldn't recommend it or return to it. As is in the title "Dive Bar" thus food is clearly not their forte. I'd suggest coming here to support them with the intention of drinking. That way if you order food it's just a bonus and who knows - you might have a better meal then we did.
