  • Vegan at the beach!

Vegan vacations can require planning, but we found this place right there walking distance from the ocean and our hotel and we hardly even used the efficiency kitchen in our room. For a place that is famous for fish tacos, more than half of their menu can be made vegan, including breakfast! Vegan huevos rancheros and breakfast burritos with egg-style tofu scramble and house made mock-meat proteins. We had around ten different items over the course of our stay and really enjoyed everything. They make a vegan substitute for chicken, beef and fish in house. The fish is fried tofu and the chicken and beef are seitan I think. One day the chicken was a bit salty but on others it was perfect. The "beef" and "fish" were my two favorites. They have a vegan sour cream and use a vegan cheese that I'm pretty sure was the pepperjack Daiya. All of the produce tasted fresh and well prepared, nothing was too spicy but they offer an array of hot sauces and will add jalapenos to anything at no extra charge. Items that can be made vegan are very clearly marked on the menu and are not made vegan by leaving out ingredients, all non-vegan components are replaced with a vegan version of that ingredient. The staff was friendly and helpful and had a super positive attitude. The owner thanked us for coming in and asked for our feedback on the vegan items. They make a pretty good margarita and a [censored] good and cheap mimosa. Big filling burritos were reasonably priced and much better than the national food chain burritos. Tacos can be ordered singly or in threes. Things that come with guacamole have big portions of chunky fresh made guac. Vegan items do have a 15% up-charge but I was satisfied with the value meal after meal, and will be going back every time I am in the area.
