  • I wish it was better!

I was so happy when I discovered that a vegan restaurant was going to open in Bremerhaven, the very first one that offers vegan food only!!! Since it has opened, I've visited there many times, although there were always things that needed to be improved. At first I was sure that this would happen over time, but unfortunately it didn't, which is why I'm having lunch there not as often now as I did before. The weekly menu is very small - just two soups and two other hot dishes, usually a stew, a pasta or similar. Apart from that there is usually couscous and several kinds of antipasti, plus one or two cakes and a dessert or brownies. Recently, there have also been sandwiches. I enjoyed most of the soups and main dishes I had, some of them were really good, although some were not very filling. The other things like cake and antipasti were mostly ok-ish and I always wish that the choice was larger. Same goes for the choice of drinks, not as much as you expect from a vegan restaurant. I also think that the prices are too high for the main meals, at least when they are not filling. Some of the staff are very friendly and eager to please the guests, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is nice because it's a very light and colourful place, but the colours were not done over the top. Altogether, I still think that the service should be improved, because often it seems quite unprofessional. What I find an absolute no go is that they close earlier on Fridays if they run out of food, or they offer only one or two dishes if the other dishes are sold out. I understand that if you're closed on the weekend you don't want to waste anything, but still - it feels like bad service and letting down people who want to eat there on Fridays. After I had been looking forward to starting my weekend there one Friday and just found a sign saying "Sorry! Everything is gone", it really put me off. Another positive aspect: The location is very central, adjacent to Theodor-Heuss-Platz which is at the end of the pedestrian zone and just a few minutes from the [censored] and Havenwelten. I would have liked to write a more positive review, as I am so happy that there at least is a vegan restaurant in Bremerhaven. However, I just wish it was a better one.
