- best veggies, great atmosphere!
This is simply my favorite place to eat in Tokyo. The atmosphere of the place is relaxing, there are tables and also on-the-floor setting (which is great if you have little babies, or if you come as a group) and most of all, the food is delicious. And, I've tried many vegan places in Tokyo, but Kaemon is that kind of restaurant where all the menu is good. I don't understand the last reviews. I've been there like 20 times if not more, and I never had a single problem with the food. Nothing cold, no coldness from the staff. Some items takes longer to prepare but it is usually mentioned. They do catering, events, original food, take out bentos, what could you ask for more? And the price? Well, it is a fully organic shop, for sure you pay less in other restaurant that aren't organic. I still don't get how people are hard on the price of a set that include a salad, soup, and a main dish, while everyone ate a 1000¥ burger at the Green Food Fes, queuing for 1 hour, and getting a pretty disappointing burger with more bread than anything else inside and no one complained. Just go there, relax and enjoy their amazing lunch plate. The vegetables taste so good you, the karaage are delicious, their curry is delightful (and that's from someone who hate curry!) and the staff is just lovely. Their menu is using seasonal items, everything is cooked from scratch, and they even have kids menu. If you can't talk properly with the staff because of language barrier, well I guess it's not different from many other places. However they have English speaking staff and menu as well. I keep thinking about all the experiences I had there but can't find a single bad memory. While other claimed vegan restaurant have non vegan staff and even owners, don't understand fully the vegan culture (I've seen leather stuff in some places.) Kaemon is owned by a passionate vegan, who made this place mostly to share the organic vegan culture. Definitely worth going!
