- Stone Cold Food, Long Wait, Cheap Decor, & Pricey
I was incredibly disappointed with this restaurant, having been looking forward to an exclusively organic vegan restaurant in Tokyo. I really, really wanted to like it, and tried to, but the staff and place let itself down. 1) Getting into the place, it was reasonably empty, but the service was still slow. It was possibly our fault, as we only had 40 minutes to enjoy the dining experience, but we had found that other places in Tokyo were quite quick at serving us, so we did not presume this place would have taken that much longer, specifically given the place was not full. 2) We presumed, as our food had taken over 20 minutes to arrive, that they were cooking the bulk of it from scratch, and that we were going to be served something super delicious and special. So when our curries arrived stone cold, we were less than impressed. The actual taste seemed like it would have been delicious had it at least been luke warm, but serving it cold was an insult. Furthermore, we had lost over 20 minutes of the 40 minutes we had free waiting to be served, and, unable to flag down the waiter, we had to eat it cold. 3) It was reasonably pricey for Tokyo. More than 6 times pricier, in fact, than the vegan options (rice bowls with tofu, etc) in the restaurant opposite it. And certainly expensive by Tokyo's standards. Ordinarily, this is worth paying if the food is worth it, if the décor and ambience are nice (in this case, it looked like it had been a meeting room that had been rearranged to fit restaurant tables in. You would not presume it was a more expensive restaurant than the nicely decorated cheap places scattered all across the street and city). 4) Once we were done eating our cold curries, it took over 10 minute to flag someone to take our money. This was despite the fact we had put our jackets on, and had stood at the cash register in an attempt to be seen, as no one was checking in on the tables. Again, I would gladly pay more for delicious organic vegan food in a nice place. But somewhere with shabby decor, stone cold food, and non existent service is not somewhere I would ever visit again. And god forbid how the food and service would have been had it been busy! I would give this place one star if I could. There are some delicious vegan options around Tokyo. Most of which are cheap eats. And they all felt more expensive than this place.
