  • Good Vegan Food but 3 Disappointing Factors

We were a party of 4 last night when we dined at Full Bloom. It was pricey but I am honestly fine with paying more for vegan food than I paid for fine dining prior to becoming a vegan. It is a beautiful setting and we were offered outside seating. I was so excited until I received a response from this question: is the outside dining area non smoking? The waiter's response was : No, Florida law permits smoking in outside dining areas. Yes, that is true but it does not MANDATE it! Really, vegans are very health conscious people. I along with the majority of vegans became a vegan to promote healthy living. On what planet are you from to even consider allowing smoking anywhere that your patrons are dining. We got a table inside, it did have a view but not the view we would have enjoyed dining on the terrace. We ordered 2 appetizers- the plantain kabobs and the tempura. They were good but not excellent . The tempura had a sauce that was very fishy. For dinner one person had the fajitas ,he rated them on the low end of good. Nothing memorable and really not much to eat. I along with my friend ordered the eggplant dish. It was covered in panco crumbs and served with a delicious side salad and a diced vegetable dish. We agreed it was good but really lacked a sauce. We found the covering it with the salad greatly improved the dish. The last person ordered the special entree of the night -gnocchi . He was pleased with it and said they were good. Before dinner we were treated with a complimentary small taste of a cold gazpacho . It was delicious but salty. We did not have dessert because we were meeting another group later that evening. When our bill came I was very disappointed that a tip would be added to our check without the waiter telling us. I did not see this announced on the menu and honestly, we were a party of 4 not 6!This was somewhat offensive to me and my fellow diners. I am fine with a gratuity being added but I feel I should be informed. The last disappointing factor concerned parking. I do not live in the Miami area and therefore unfamiliar with the restaurant location. Two hrs. before our reservation I noticed a miss call from the restaurant. I called back and was informed there is no parking at their building and I could park at the Standard Hotel. It took about 30 min.to find because the sign for the hotel is located on the side and it was hung upside down! I was shocked that we were charged $30 for 2 hrs! We should have been told of this price!!
