  • Wow incredible cheese!!!

This place was just listed on Happy Cow during our stay in Portland and I'm so glad we got to check it out! It's just down the road from the Loving Hut. I'm a big cheese fan and wanted to try a few so we ordered the cheese plate which comes with five different cheeses (Vtopia and other brands) and fresh fruit, jam, an artichoke tapenade, olives, bread and crackers. I tried two kinds of cheddar, peppercorn brie, roasted red peppers & sundried tomato, and chive & dill. The cheese plate was phenomenal! The jam was so fresh and amazing, it was so good with the peppercorn brie. The chive & dill was probably my favourite on its own, just so creamy. The roasted red pepper was also really good. The cheddars were so great, beautiful and soft and tasty. My partner isn't as much of a cheese fan but I managed to convince him to try some and he loved them too! They make the cheese fresh and you can really tell. The only other vegan cheese platter I had was in Paris and this was so much better! When we ran out of bread and crackers they brought us some more for free! The bread was so good! My partner got the cheese melt sandwich, the bread was so fresh and beautiful and the cheese was so thick and melty. We also got strawberry lemonade which was perfect in the summer weather. The service was quick and very friendly, they kept topping up our waters. We chatted to the owners and they gave us great recommendations for places to check out in Portland and also San Francisco which is where we are heading next. This is a must visit for cheese lovers! They also have sweet cheeses, with chocolate, etc - I didn't try them because I'm a savoury girl but they looked amazing. We got a bit confused by the numbering on the street, but basically if you head down Jefferson from Downtown, past the Art Museum and Loving Hut, cross over the bridge, past the Gastro pub and it will be there on the left. A great place to check out before/after Loving Hut or the Art Museum. Also close to Washington Park which has the Japanese Garden.
