- authentic elegance
Yun Shan Ge was not so easy to find given our directions, but well worth the effort. If you go, come from the Fort Cornwallis side and look for the octagonal windows on either side of the door, they are unique. The dining room is filled with an understated quiet elegance rarely found in this world. The solid wooden chairs are simple and comfortable, the tables made of wood and marble, a big open room, not at all crowded, peacefully quiet and yet a steady stream of customers, soft classical music in the background, a wonderful oasis to be in. We wanted to try some authentic Malaysian food, and the waitress was most helpful in this regard, particularly since we had never had any before. The food was 100% vegan, utterly delicious, carefully and lovingly prepared, beautifully spiced (with no garlic or onion). We were encouraged to take our time and enjoy our meal, there is no rushing here. For about 6 American dollars we were both totally satisfied with the amount of food given. The woman who served us is the single most gracious person I have ever been served by in 40+ years of dining in more than a dozen countries around the world. Highly recommended.
