  • Mexican Delight for Everyone

I have been here a handful of times and the atmosphere is very embracing of the vegan lifestyle (they have their own VEGAN MENU, ask for it if they don't ask when you walk in). Even in the regular menu, the veggie and vegan options are clearly marked. Up front, I will say that this place can get a bit pricey, but the menu is somewhat more established and vegan friendly than I have seen in any other restaurant. Personally, I am willing to pay a little more to have a fancier meal, but I understand if the price deters a few would-be patrons. If you just want a burrito, by all means, go to Bombers down the street. But if you want appetizers and a hearty meal in a sit-down, more professional setting, Mexican Radio is your spot. APPETIZERS - The Mexican Spring Rolls didn't quite wow me. It was really fresh and the flavors were good, I just didn't like the texture. I have had nachos loaded with vegan chili and vegan cheese that were out of this world. I like nachos, these were really good nachos. MAIN - Mexican Radio has really delicious seitan. Like super delicious. It gives the enchiladas I ordered a truly 'meaty' bite. If you are sick of mushrooms that day or don't like them to begin with, try one of their enchiladas with seitan. I ordered the enchiladas mole with three different kinds of sauces and had two seitan and one mushroom filled ones. Just like any other restaurant, they have a few salad options and are generally very accommodating to customization or "veganization." I wouldn't say this is the healthiest option that I have seen in Schenectady, but it is one of the more openly embracing of the sit-down restaurants in the area. I get excited as a vegan and a foodie to go to Mexican Radio.
