- Excellent food in a place of pilgrimmage
Vrindavan is a mystical place of pilgrimmage that attracts a wide variety of people; Indian pilgrims from around the country, curious backpackers, and foreign pilgrims from every corner of the globe. Despite the variety of people it attracts, Vrindavan can be a very heavy, intense experience for many. Ashram food, clean and nourishing as it is, can have newcomers desiring some variety in their diet. MVT provides a delicious variety. It's completely vegetarian, and food is prepared under the tenets of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, meaning not only are you eating strictly lacto-vegetarian food, but food offered to Krishna, as well. I was there years ago, but I still fondly remember the Indian, Thai, Chinese, and Italian styles of food preparations offered at the MVT. Anyone, particularly travelers new to Vrindavan, will find themselves a great place to eat.
