  • Great location, delicious food

I knew about this place before I arrived in Santiago thanks to Happy Cow, and after a week of compromising my diet in wayside places while walking the Camino, it was such a relief to find this place on my first night in town, to have a proper meal and celebrate the achievement of getting here. The location is brilliant, though you'll need the street map to find it as it's between two main shopping streets and looks like a dead end alley from either end. It's worth the hunt, as it's quieter here than the main drag, and blissfully cool because of the high walls either side. Host was absolutely delightful, and when I was struggling with the Spanish/Galego menu brought out an English translation to help me! I had a delicious ratatouille, and the best tiramisu I've ever tasted in my life. I even got to try the famed local oruja (firecracker strong brandy) in my coffee at the end of the night, and 2 courses + wine + coffee came to less than 15 Euros. Fantastic stuff! I'd have gone back in my few days there but he was shut the next evening (Sunday) so I never got the chance.
