  • Delicious vegan gem in Bali!

So good. I discovered Banana Leaf on Happy Cow while trip planning. It wasn't exactly located where it says it is on the map, as are most things in Bali. It's on the same road as La Finca, a big Spanish restaurant. It is just past it, around the bend. Definitely worth seeking out. The first all vegan restaurant that I've come across in Indonesia, so I was excited! It's so comforting to just be able to relax while eating! It lived up to my expectations! Service was incredibly sweet, portions were generous and the food was good. We had the hibiscus tea (my first time having this) and it was definitely a culinary highlight on our trip! They seem to be connected to the restaurant next door, Bali Berries, because I saw a few people ordering their drinks from there while eating in Banana Leaf. I will try that next time! Our order: - hibiscus tea: great, see above!!! - the papaya salad: delicious, refreshing - the magic mushrooms with tofu combo plate with red rice. Very good and the spring roll that it came with was especially good, fresh, satisfying. I wish they sold the sauces that it came with! - the pumpkin eggplant sweet basil because we were feeling nostalgic for the pumpkin season at home. Substituted the tofu with soy chicken. Good choice! So flavourful. Will definitely try to eat here a few more times! Updated from previous review on Tuesday October 14, 2014
