- Vegan sorbets
Found Cabarrus Creamery on Happy Cow, looking for veg friendly options while visiting the Charlotte suburb of Concord, NC. Cute, retro Ice Cream Parlor feel to the place, in a relaxed walkable downtown area, with benches for sitting lining the streets, & signs on the benches limiting the sitting time. Yes, a bit strange... Only vegan options here are the sorbets. Usually two per day, with pear & strawberry being sold the day I stopped by. The server said the sorbets were good, but was not sure if they were made in house. The sorbets were in a freezer cased, not the display case, yet we're still quite soft when served in a cup. Since the outside temperature was above 90 degrees, they melted further in the time it took to walk back to the car. Still, good tasting, especially on a warm summer afternoon. Nothing remarkable, just cooling. The server was not very familiar with definition of vegan, saying some of the ice creams were "paleo," and offering samples. I asked about dairy content, & he said yes, all the ice creams contained dairy. I then explained dairy, as an animal product, was not vegan, and further defined vegan for him. He was very interested, polite & friendly. Free, On street parking out front & on side streets. Would stop by again if downtown, yet not worth destination trip. Moderate prices.
