- sooo vegi - electric road
i hate to say this, but the more i dine at sooo vegi, the more i'm reminded how easy it is to whip up a simple meal at home for a fraction of the price. my hkd45 plate of "spaghetti with spinach and corn in cream sauce" was - while not quite yet saizeriya's standards - filling at best. the only other noticeable ingredient besides what's in its name were some mushrooms, the spaghetti was on the dry side, and the sauce veered towards sickly sweet - one only hopes that canned cream of corn soup didn't have a part to play in this meal. when i asked which of their rice dishes don't contain mock meat, i was told only two, of which one was sold out. if you're likewise not a fan of mock meat, you can also opt for salads and two out of three pastas (not the bolognese), or ask that veggie mince/sausages be excluded from the wraps. if you choose to exclude mock meat from the rice dishes, half of your meal would probably be gone! i'd rate this 2 to 3 stars food-wise, but credit must be given where credit is due: by "vege-nising" chaa chaa teng and other mainstream dishes amidst a bright, modern setting, it's doing a good job of popularising vegetarian food. while i was there, there was a constant stream of customers ordering takeaway meals. with so few veggie eateries in the neighbourhood, i still want to find something to love in sooo vegi and will make it a point to try more unique dishes like potato skin and stuffed vegetables (煎釀三寶) next time. hopefully i'll be pleasantly surprised. (there's a corner fruit store a few units down that serves delicious takeaway fruit juices.)
