This is a traditional Taiwanese vegetarian restaurant, serving simple rice and vegetable dishes. My dish was perfectly satisfying, but quite small, so you'll need at least two per person for a filling meal, especially if going to the Pingxi Crags to hike afterwards. The owners were friendly, but not interested in helping with what was vegan, because it's all vegan (presumably including the boiled eggs) so it's necessary (for vegans) to just choose vegetable dishes. Definitely stay away from fake meat! It says it's always open, but I think in reality they close when they quieten down, which appears to be around 6PM. There's also a vegetarian restaurant which is only open on weekends at 122 Shifen Street, opposite from Shifen Station. It would be great if someone could try it (if there on a weekend) and add it to Happycow - thanks.
