The "UKafe" in in Roppongi, Tokyo is described as "veg friendly". But when you enter, it looks like a full on vegan cafe. It's all warm, welcoming, earthy and healthy looking. But be aware, there's meat on the menu. Lots of it. And even-though there's an English menu available it is confusing. The "vegan buffet" as described by the previous reviewer is just a vegetable buffet. And it is only available on Monday, if that Monday isn't a holiday. The lunch menu differs from the dinner menu. The lunch menu offers six options, none of which are vegetarian or vegan. However, on request three of them can be made vegetarian. So we tried two. I had the "UKarry", which is Japanese curry and a big salad. It was absolutely delicious. The food is served beautifully and the ingredients are obviously of high quality (although the restaurant doesn't mention anything about macrobiotic or bio friendly resources). For 1,200 yen I had curry with two kinds of rice, a big salad and a very tasty dessert. Not a bad price! My friend tried the "UKake' which is raw egg, brown rice, vegetables, miso soup, a small seaweed dish and the same dessert. It was great as well. The staff is very attentive. They came to our table three times to make sure no ingredients were used we didn't want to eat. The taste of the meals and the atmosphere resemble that of the Chaya Macrobiotic restaurants in Tokyo. However, since UKafe also serves meat this might be a great place to bring (stubborn) carnivorous friends. A hint on how to find the restaurant: don't trust Apple Maps. It has no idea where the restaurant it and will send you on a wild goose chase around Roppongi. The UKafe is in the "Tokyo Midtown" shopping centre, in the "Galleria" building on the second floor. Even-though they placed a big sign in an area where many restaurants are located, the uKafe is in fact located at the end of a long and empty looking hallway (try to find the Jet and Figaro shops, the UKafe in the hallway between those two shops).
