  • Disappointing

We were in the area and hungry so we gave Simon's a go. Unfortunately it was not worth the visit. There is a small vegan section on the menu with three items, all with seitan - which we couldn't try, because they had no seitan. Our waitress was not particularly knowledge or confident in what they could offer instead for vegan food. We ended up taking 1) tomato and basil pasta - one of the worst we had tried in Italy, tasting of salt and very little else; 2) a cous-cous with steamed vegetables dish which was okay, but nothing special. Maybe we would have liked the seitan dishes more... who knows. Strangely the restaurant had several veg-oriented books on display like the China Study - perhaps the owner is vegan, but they clearly do not have a large number of vegan customers, so the wait staff are not polished in the area. Overall, considering that the location is out of the way, prices are not particularly cheap, decoration and atmosphere is nothing special, and vegan offering is the same or worse as what you would get asking nicely at any competent Italian restaurant, I would not go back nor recommend the restaurant!
