  • Nice salad-and-soup-buffet but made a mistake

Ate here twice, I chose the buffet both times, on a weekday evening and in the weekend (more expensive then,~2500 ISK, think it was ~1900 ISK for lunch on weekdays). Not a vegan/vegetarian restaurant but also had some veg options both in buffet and menu (mainly nut steak, didn't eat it though). The restaurant was cozy, oriental interior, live candles and interesting artworks. Also both times nice friendly staff and not too crowded. Also serve alcohol. Anyway, I got stuffed by the excellent spicy veg-soup and creamy mushroom soup as well as the options from the salad buffet (marinated chickpeas, raw veggies, bean-salad, barley and sun dried tomato, cold rice salad etc. Also yummy oils with basil, rucola etc.) The bread was also delicious. The first time there I asked which soups were vegan, and they said both the mushroom and the veg was. However, the next time I overheard another customer ask about the soups and they got the answer that the mushroom soup has milk protein (or powder?) in it. So it was a bummer to find out after I'd already eaten it twice, because I had thought it was vegan (and it was delicious). I also tried both spreads, one was hummus and the other one I found out to be garlic butter (realized it while eating it), it had really looked like hummus/bean paste with tomato or something, and the foods weren't marked vegan/non v. All in all the food I ate was good but afterwards I feel a little disappointed (and dishearted, what if other places also sold me 'vegan' food that wasn't vegan?). If they could mark the vegan options clearly and still keep 50/50 vegan soups (2/4) it would be great. Updated from previous review on Tuesday May 17, 2016
