  • Yes, BBQ can be vegetarian and tasty!

Admittedly, Uncle Mike's Superlicious BBQ's focus is on BBQ'ed meat. But a quick glance at the menu, or a talk with the owner and his vegetarian wife, shows this great place goes the extra step to allow vegetarians to enjoy BBQ just as much as carnivores. The staple vegetarian dish is the Tofu, mushrooms, and veggies with rice. The tofu is sliced thin (it's very much like a tender steak) and smoked and lightly grilled, and served on rice with mild or hot BBQ sauce, with peppers and mushrooms. It's the best prepared tofu I've ever had, and it's worth the trip. But the surprises don't end there, as ALL of the sides are vegetarian, even the most amazing baked beans you've ever had. Make sure you check out as many of the sides as you can as they are all amazing. Get the side sampler along with your main course to make sure everyone at the table gets to try the sides. My partner and I make the drive from Portland to Seattle every few months just to experience this treasure in White Center. And make sure you meet the owner because he's amazingly friendly and warm and welcoming, and you'll come back for the food and the good feelings this place will give you.
