  • Upmarket vegetarian restaurant with a view

This is a great upmarket vegetarian restaurant (the English name is Lotus), situated in a fairly new development on the Harbour called Warehouse 15 (Shíwǔ Kù). It's a little pricier than other restaurants, but well worth it! We usually order a lot of food when we go, but you can also easily eat for around 100RMB per person (around $15USD). The ambience of the restaurant is really nice, the food is delicious, the staff are lovely, and if you go during the day you can look out over the water. They also have outdoor seating which is nice if you get decent weather. Our favourite dishes are: the spinach dumplings, the 'goose' the 'horsebeans' (broad beans), spicy Sichuan cauliflower (in the specials menu) and some rice rolls with spinach inside them. Some dishes contain egg, but the main menu has English, so you can look out for any dishes that contain egg if you do not eat egg, or tell the staff that you don't eat egg (Wǒ bù chī jīdàn) if you are pure veg or vegan and they can help you to avoid these dishes. The only downside for me is that they allow smoking inside the restaurant, so we usually try to sit as far away from any smokers as possible. There are also private rooms available. It's worth making a booking if you want a specific table, however you can usually get a table without a booking. Highly recommend this restaurant.
