- Veggie Haven
I was nervous about my trip to Prague, thinking the only vegetarian options in the whole city would be fried cheese and bread, but, fortunately, I was wrong! I went to Maitrea with my Study Abroad group after Clear Head told us we wouldn't fit in the restaurant. I was glad for it, in fact, because Maitrea has a great atmosphere and a huge menu that includes some Czech classics like Goulash and Svickova (made with seitan) that I never would've been able to try otherwise. I took my family back when they came to visit, and everyone thought it was a hit. The only bad thing I can say is that the service is often slow, but at least it's a nice, relaxing place to spend a lot of time, as opposed to a loud, crowded restaurant on the square. I recommend the Svickova, Tofu and Eggplant dish, and Couscous Risotto. For dessert, the poached pear is delicious. Also, the daily menu is an excellent value!
