  • A longtime favorite ... but sometimes off the mark

I love Great Sage and have loyally dined at and recommended it since it opened. The food is tasty, creative, healthy, and largely vegan. Try the blueberry pancakes and cinnamon buns on Sunday brunch ... or spinach and artichoke dip or black bean tostada as an app ... and the fruit crisp for dessert. The portions are just right- complaints about small portions are caused by portion distortion! I've been disappointed at some of the menu changes of late- my favorite dishes (veggie cakes, lentil loaf, coconut spinach)removed and replaced with a strange selection of fake meats and fake cheeses. I know some vegans like this processed approach to eating, but I like vegetables, fruits, and grains! In response to reviews about "blandness," Great Sage has kicked up the heat in almost every dish, leaving the spice-averse like myself with few options. I get that chefs grow bored with the same menu, but at least keep the best stuff around!
