• Cute, clean cafe with delicious eats!

I live in Los Angeles, but visit my family in the NW a few times a year and am always looking for new places to get great vegan food. I discovered Caffe Dei just googling around and decided to make a special trip (from Edgewood) to pick up some Mighty O donuts for myself and my parents. This place is so clean and cute, very simple decor. I told the owner, Shuanna, that I'm vegan and she described the different vegan sandwich options to me. I decided that in addition to the donuts and soy latte I'd ordered, I had to try their vegan sausage breakfast panini (they'll add cheese if you're vegetarian). It was SO PERFECT! A think slice of Yves sausage, creamy, melty homemade sauce and onions on a toasted ciabatta. As a vegan, I know these kinds of things can be hit and miss, so I was pleased to have my expectations more than exceeded. I brought half of the breakfast panini home (trying to save room for the donuts) and let my parents share it. They're both meat-eaters, but both liked it a lot and my dad said he would be inclined to stop in and order it for himself sometime. My brother (also vegan) and I are planning to have lunch there tomorrow because I'm eager to try their other sandwiches. Updated from previous review on Monday August 23, 2010
