- Great heaping portions
Ok, so we all know if you go to an Ethiopian restaurant and order a sampler of food, there is more than you can normally eat. This place takes it to a level just beyond that! How is that possible? Maybe it's because other Ethiopian places are skimping some these days, but wow - huge portions. The price is a little bit higher, so that might be a justification. The vegan sampler has 5 traditional items including fosolakia, miser wott, gomen, kik alicha and tekel gomen with injera. The go men was a bit too salty, but had an undertone spicy flavor that was sublet but nice. The fosolakia probably used frozen green beans, but it's a stewed dish with carrots and spices, so it was fine. The kik alicha was delicious - thoroughly cooked and well flavored, very nice. The tekel gomen was great - not too greasy, good flavor, fresh cabbage, well cooked potatoes. The miser wott was the most unique in flavor compared to other red lentil berbere dishes - good and flavorful! The injera was not my favorite though. If you have room, there are plenty of beverages like teas and coffee drinks (lattes), that can be made with soy. There are a lot of vegetarian choices, including a glass case filled with baked goods - none of which are vegan - and a half-dozen other entrees (pasta, sandwiches/ panini, salads). Laid back atmosphere and friendly staff make it even better. If in the area, it's a good choice for some Ethiopian vegan food for dinner.
