- It Really Is a Happy Shop!
Needing vegan milk after arriving in Moscow, I set out to track down this place, right away. It's in a very nice, residential, neighbourhood and the address is pretty easy to find. As others have mentioned, you enter through the gate and you're just in a courtyard. I didn't see any signs but if there are then that would be useful-- there are some other small businesses in the courtyard, too. So, after entering the courtyard, turn left and look to your left, again, to find the stairs that lead down to this little shop. One of those places you think "there's no way I'm in the right place" and then miraculously find it! The staff member I met was very friendly and helpful. He mentioned that Russia can be difficult for vegans. This does seem to be one of the few places to buy specifically vegan products in Moscow; for the moment, at least. I did see a couple of other places but I'm glad to support this little business. Although the location is small, they stock many interesting, unique foods. Lots of drinks, frozen items and various healthy things! I bought almond milk and frozen pierogis (which were quite sweet). Vegan milk is definitely more expensive here than in North America but at least you can find it! Definitely worth coming here. The fact that it's kind of hidden just makes it that more special! Very nice area to walk around in, as well-- not much traffic and just a peaceful walk.
