- More vegan-friendly than most WF salad/hot bars.
Of the many Whole Foods I have visited in at least 6 states + London, this is one of the most vegan-friendly ones I've been to. I'm told it's the second largest in the U.S. after the Austin store. First, the produce in the salad bar is organic, although not every item. Second, there are 3 hot foods bars: regular, international, and no added oils. There are many options for vegans in the hot and cold foods bars including tempeh and greens sauteed with no added oil (delicious), an Indian cauliflower dish, tabouli, and hummus (although I didn't see any pita bread). I wish they had a vegan salad dressing other than the balsamic vinegrette which contains sugar. Like many of the Whole Foods in the Bay Area, this one offers a large selection of vegan donuts in the pastry section nearby. But the highlight of this store for me is the Cafe Gratitude within the store at the opposite end. (Toward the left rear.) The Cafe Gratitude which I will review is a must-visit!
