• Sad to see a raw vegan place with awful service

We were greeted warmly and offered a sample at Goshen in Union Market. We told the gentleman offering the sample about my son's food allergies - peanuts and all tree nuts except for almonds. He pointed out some things on the menu that he offered a sample of, and I reviewed the ingredients listed to confirm that there were no nuts. We liked the filling of a sandwich that we sampled - some sort of a slaw, and ordered that, as well as a juice and a roll. Before we ate what we got, my son started having an allergic reaction to what we had sampled. I gave my son some benadryl, and made sure he was okay. I went back to Goshen, unopened containers of food in hand, and spoke with a gentleman who identified himself as the chef and owner. I told him what happened and asked to see the menu. He said that they didn't have a menu. I told him that I looked at a menu when I ordered. He again repeated that they did not have a menu, and told us that he prepared the food and told us what was in it. His tone had become very nasty at this point. I went down the counter and found the menu, and he grabbed it from me, saying that was the brochure. He would not let me look at it. He told me not to grab it, when he was the one who grabbed it from me when I picked it up from the counter to read it. He threatened to call security. I said that's fine, and in fact called the Police. Most human beings, when you tell them that what you ordered resulted in your child having an allergic reaction, would apologize, would want to try to make things right. Another gentleman who works at Goshen came and checked on my son and apologized for what happened, for the owner's behavior. We love vegan food, and had the owner handled the situation differently, I would be sitting here writing a review about how great the juice was, how great the food was, how despite what happened, I would look forward to dining at Goshen again. Instead, I have to write this.
