  • Great neighborhood veg friendly restaurant

We loved to go here, but a couple of months ago two of a group of three got sick after eating there (I didn't eat the item that the other two did, and did not get sick). If you check out their health rating on SF Health Department rating, it seems that they have 'improved' from a score of 55/100 in Sept 2016 to 76/100 in April 2017, but I'm still not going back until they get a rating better than "Needs improvement." https://101g-xnet.sfdph.org:8443/ords/f?p=132:2:::NO::P2_LOCATIONID:81667 Previous review: We go to Crazy Pepper frequently since we live in the neighborhood--it's one of the only vegetarian friendly restaurants in the neighborhood. They do carry meat, but seem to understand vegetarian/vegan differences, e.g. they will ask "egg OK?" when we order Mushu vegetables. The food is good, and I love the mock chicken. The restaurant is right near Balboa BART, the K, M, and J MUNI streetcar lines, and many MUNI buses. Inside they have about ten tables, and can put them together if you have a larger group. While it is on a main street, the noise does not seem to come in. They seem to do a lot of takeout orders, and the bus stop out front seems to not have any buses that stop at it, so you can stop there and run in and pay for/pick up your takeout without having to worry about a ticket (or finding a place to park).
