i wasn't sure what we'd be getting into as i made my parents take the mrt to the last stop at xindian, then wait close to half an hour for the bus, based solely on some online reviews. it was worth the trip, for something we'd never have experienced in central taipei: friendly staff and boss, vegan food, and a truly relaxing and peaceful experience (other diners were mostly part of the city garden community and at our table was a neighbouring dog who had decided to trot over and lie down to enjoy the air-con). tips: 1. there's 10% off on meat-free wednesdays. 2. on leaving xindian mtr, turn right and walk to the bus stop, and take bus green 3 (綠3) all the way to the terminus at garden city (花園新城), not the penultimate stop that says garden city phase 2. you might want to take a taxi to the cafe if you're in a rush or travelling with kids (there are no seats at the bus stop). and also check the bus departure time from city garden (every half hour) so you can plan when to leave the restaurant.
