  • Skip the crêpes, get the mille-feuille

I singled this one out as a must-visit while researching vegan eats in the area. I loved crêpes and still have very fond memories of a meal I had at a crêperie in Quebec City a few years back before becoming vegan. Crêpes, especially the savory kind, are one of those things that is very tricky to veganize, so I was very intrigued to see how they would do it here. We ordered two savory crêpes, one with veggies and one with tempeh. They were just OK, nothing like the ones I remember. Turned out they simply substituted vegan cheese for the dairy kind and called it a day. It was the dominant flavor in the crêpes, almost to the point of being overpowering. Too bad, I'm not a fan of that stuff. Considering the quality and the portion size, I found the prices unjustifiably hefty. On the plus side, the mille-feuille was fantastic, which was weird as I never liked the regular version. Also, the staff was super friendly and checked on us often. Without a car, we had to trek a good half hour from our hotel in WeHo to get here, and we are fast walkers. There wasn't much around to see or do, so we really went out of our way to come eat here. My partner did enjoy the meal very much though, so that was still a win I guess.
