I definitely think that this place is worth a visit if you are visiting Taunton and need a vegan lunch. They offer several vegan sandwiches and burgers amidst a selection of other vegetarian foods. They also had some nicely decorated vegan cakes available (we didn't have them but they looked lovely). We visited this place because we heard they had a salad bar and offered vegan food. I guess salad isn't really a speciality at Roots. It was a bit drab and uninventive. You pay £3.50 for the salad bar, but have to put it onto a very small plate (more like the size of a teacup saucer)... although we still felt thankful to find something. We also bought some side dishes to go with it. The potato & sweet potato wedges were really tasty - that was our highlight - although the home-made hummus wasn't really anything to write home about (disappointing). The staff were fine, although they certainly could have been a little friendlier. We asked an easy question and got the feeling that it was a bit of an effort for them to answer, bit hurried and rushed (which was strange because it wasn't like there was anyone else in the queue). Having said that. Someone else might have a completely different and wonderful experience there... Updated from previous review on Sunday March 02, 2014
