- Unique culinary experience
The Depanneur is unlike any other restaurant in Toronto. They offer weekly drop-in dinners and weekend supper clubs hosted by a parade of local talent. Every Wednesday night is a vegan drop-in dinner cooked by Emily Zimmerman. Check their website for the menu and monthly super clubs, some of which are completely vegan. Emphasis on local, sustainable food. They also offer workshops on things like vegan cheese and canning. The only draw back, is that with the constant variety, sometimes a dish is less impressive than you might hope. I have also found that for the $12 drop-in price tag, the portions can be quite small. I've been to two supper clubs and the first was beyond amazing. They are family style and it's BYOB, so you can open up your favourite bottle. The second one, however, was a huge disappointment for the $40 price tag. They did not have enough gnocchi (the main dish) to share with everyone at the table and we left quite hungry. That said, you should definitely still check out one of their drop-in dinners. They often have vegan options on nights other than the completely vegan Wednesday night.
