• Ruined birthday meal because of terrible service

We visited a couple on a Thursday at 10:10 and was told the kitchen was closed, which is okay I guess. Some restaurants don't serve late but it would have been nice if that was on the website. We tried again on the Saturday for a pre-theatre meal on my boyfriend's birthday. I ordered a pot of tea which turned up luke-warm so I sent that back for a replacement. We placed our order and waited and waited. It was only when the table next to us who ordered 15 minutes after us received their order (one meal of which was the same as one of ours) we realised there was a problem. We questioned the waitress who said she'd check on the order, she returned and said it would be along shortly. We waited another ten minutes and then someone more senior came over and apologised saying our order hadn't in fact been placed. At this point we didn't have time for them to begin cooking our meal and eat it so we left. We ended up having to grab a bag of crisps from a newsagent on the way to the theatre to tide us over through the show. Not much of a birthday meal.
