- Bland, but it has potential
I live close to Wy-Knot Cafe, and I've been there several times. I always go in with high expectations, knowing that there are a decent number of vegan options. But I always leave a bit disappointed. The tofu scramble I got today was bland; it lacked salt and had too much turmeric. There seemed to be no other seasoning added. The sauteed vegetables of the day were described as kale, zucchini, onion, and carrots, but they ended up being a whole lot of onion and zucchini, with almost no kale (again with very little salt and no other seasoning). The baked tempeh is interesting, with a sweet smoky flavor that sets it apart from most "bacon" recipes. But in this case, there's usually too much salt! Aside from that, the drip coffee is good, and the service has always been excellent. I think with more feedback from vegans, they could do a lot better on the food. I've heard omnivores rave about the other menu items. It's a decent place to take people who are afraid of an all-vegan restaurant.
