  • Truly Heavenly!

This is an excellent place. As at July 2011 it's been open a few weeks and I've been twice, and have booked another 2 vists already! First time I had stuffed peppers, second time I had stuffed courgettes. OK, sounds a bit similar, but they were both very different dishes, and the courgette in particular was delicious. My boyfriend had the vegan breakfast and while I don't normally eat things like that as I think fake meat is a bit strange, I tried a few wee bits and it was the best vegan breakfast of that type I've ever nibbled. Oh yes, and the puddings - wow! I can't wait to try them all! We had some sort of chocolate bombe thing and it was amazing. They are changing their menus while they get established, but their new menu looks fantastic. It's very extensive - soups and sandwiches, but then also some lovely salads, and proper main courses, along the lines of what I've mentioned above. From what I can tell so far, they have mains that might change, then also some 'classics' - the one that sticks in my head is spaghetti bolognaise. If I'm totally honest, I would like to see fewer soya based dishes, as I'm not keen on the stuff, I prefer just vegetable based dishes, but that's just me, and I'm very happy overall with the choice on offer at Heavenly. The venue itself is smashing, it's lovely and clean, not err... 'crusty' like a lot of the vegan places you tend to find. It's like a normal upmarket bar, with nice wooden floors, and fresh decor. And the employees are lovely too. OK, I'm going to use this line in a review before anyone else does - for a vegan in Glasgow, Heavenly really does live up to its name.
