- Best Street Food for Vegans in Chiang Mai! Check it out!
Thai Thais are the highly popular street food carts in Thailand. Yum, the lovely, English speaking lady who owns the stall, is a mangsawirat vegetarian (kind of Jeh, but eat eggs). Eggs are served at this stall. Egg tofu is too, though egg free tofu is also available. Yum understands vegan needs well. How about the food? It is great! This is authentic, Thai street food that you can eat confidently as a vegan, if you explain to Yum your needs. DISHES to TRY: TOM KA Tom Ka: (Kind of spicy, coconut soup) If you are only there once, please try that amazing soup. It is so full of flavour and Thai herbs and vegetables, you will drift away to Lana. Ask Yum if you can watch the dish being prepared. It is a wonder to behold. TOM YUM Tom Yum: (Spicy soup with many choice ingredients) If you are lucky, Yum will cook this for you. Her way is wonderful. If you are hungry, I don't think the rice dishes are small at all. They are filling. Have another dish! All the vegetables are fresh. Saturday evenings get VERY busy at Chiang Mai Gate market. Be prepared for a bit of a wait, hustle and bustle getting around, and less chance for a pleasant chat with Yum.
