  • Only place for vegan dining in Springdale

Springdale, UT is the gateway to Zion. There are perhaps a dozen restaurants in town, but only only at Thai Sapa can you find more than one vegetarian item or vegan items on the menu. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are marked with asterisks. We had a decent vegetable stir fry and rice. They were out of brown rice, so we had to settle for white. We also ordered a yellow curry with tofu which was labeled on the menu as medium hot, but could have used a little more heat. It was also quite decent. Our dessert was a vegan coconut milk based ice cream that was surprisingly good. We wanted the mango sticky rice, but they were out of sticky rice. This mom and pop restaurant has a typical Thai restaurant decor with the obligatory buddha or two and an altar with offerings. It is very clean and welcoming. The restaurant was very busy when we were there a few days before New Year's Eve, and many people were waiting for a table. Nevertheless, the owner came over to our table and chatted with us for a bit. The rest of the staff was also very friendly. We looked for other restaurants that had vegetarian options or substitutions, and found out quickly that Thai Sapa was the only one that was vegan- and vegetarian-friendly. It may not be the best Thai restaurant we have eaten at, but we very much enjoyed our meal.
