  • A fantastic place for our first tropical holiday

We hadn't been on a tropical holiday together before and there didn't seem to be a lot of Vegan-friendly options in the Caribbean. We also wanted to go somewhere that was less touristy. We came across the Lodge in a Google search and was immediately interested. We would have to say the experience of staying there was even better than we had expected (plenty of cute lizards!) Mark and Matthew were friendly, helpful and fantastic hosts. Matthew can keep you entertained for hours on various topics and we really enjoyed our chats. The room we stayed in was comfortable and clean and it opened out onto a large balcony with a view that was breathtaking. The lap pool (which we had all to ourselves for most of our stay) was amazing as well. We loved that it was chlorine free. The food was plentiful, healthy and very tasty. It was exciting to find out what we were going to get each evening for dinner and it inspired us to be more creative in the kitchen ourselves (we're loving homemade soups and bread more than ever). On our last day, we joined up for a half day tour with Mandoo (who is friends with Mark and Matthew). It was interesting to see more of the country outside of St. George's with the many tropical fruit trees and plants (not to mention the amazing views) as we wound our way up to Grand Etang national park. We also got to stop at a spice plantation to see how cocoa beans were processed (btw - it's stinky!) and to look at and smell the various other spices that Grenada is famous for. We highly recommend Mandoo for touring Grenada. Grenada is a beautiful, safe and inviting country with warm and proud people. The beaches were postcard perfect. St. George's is a very pretty town and it did not feel at all touristy. We spent 7 nights staying at the lodge and we already wish we could go back (it's been less than a month since the trip). Wish we had brought home more Grenadian chocolate! Too many friends loved it and it was eaten up within hours! Thank you to Mark and Matthew for an incredible experience on the Isle of Spice!
