  • Great for Lunch Before/After Visiting the Zoo

I think everyone will have an easier time finding this place these days. Search on your mobile for the name in Chinese 静莲斋 jìng lián zhāi and look for the location at 北京西直门店 Běijīng xizhímén diàn. From the street you'll see their sign with a green leaf and you'll have to walk around the corner from gate. It's a very short walk from the Zoo's far northeast entrance by the aquarium. We went on a Saturday with our 2-year-old before visiting the zoo. They had a baby chair for us instantly. The place was pleasantly busy, but not too loud or crowded. Atmosphere was nothing too special, but clean enough. And the staff were all very nice. The menu is awesome and huge (and bilingual). We ordered two little fake sausages which our toddler gobbled up! I remember we tried the fake duck, which was ok. Also, the fake beef stew was hardy and generously portioned. We shared some noodles too -- nothing special, but good. I think we could have ordered better. Such a big menu! We'll definitely go back. They accepted payment by WeChat wallet, which is always nice. Since they are Buddhist there are lots of books, beads and other trinkets to buy too. Also note IMPORTANT: they can deliver! There are three locations in Beijing. I have ordered using the Baidu app (百度外卖). Updated from previous review on 2017-03-21
