- Appalling Service
The first time me and my friends went to Mamalicious the service was incredibly slow and the chai latte I received was warm milk with a tea bag thrown in that didn’t give any flavor. In any case we didn’t complain about anything to the waiter. Later, when we went to pay we didn’t have cash and unfortunately they don’t take cards. Instead of being politely asked to leave a phone, or for someone to stay behind while the others went and withdrew money, we were basically told off as if we had some sort of intention of leaving without paying all along. At this point we decided the guy must have been having a bad day. The last time I went there was with my parents. I took my father and my vegetarian Canadian Mother who were visiting as a treat because I had noticed some Canadian flags inside and it’s a 5-minute walk from my place. We sat outside and waited to be served. The same guy came out saw us and ignored us, then he started clearing tables. He could hear us speaking in English and he came to our table to clear it. I foolishly smiled at him and wanted to start making our order. He looked right at me and sarcastically asked me if I could speak English. When I said yes he pointed to a sign behind me (which I obviously hadn’t seen) and walked away in a huff. The sign asked people who sat outside to order inside. All three of us were pretty shocked at being spoken to so rudely for no reason and decided to leave. As we got up and left he ran out and shouted at us. Thankfully, I didn’t get what he said. I’ve worked in hospitality for years but it doesn’t take an expert to realise that the service at this place is inexcusably terrible. Before coming on the happycow website I had already decided that I wouldn’t be going again, which is a shame because it’s incredibly close to my house and I’m a vegetarian. Additionally, I wasn’t going to write a bad review either, because I simply couldn’t be bothered. However, when I came on this page and read the responses from Mamalicous to the people who negatively reviewed the place I could not believe what I was reading. The responses are so appalling that they have been used as a source of entertainment for myself and my colleagues during breaks at work.
