- Not what it used to be
Vishnu is one of the first vegetarian restaurants in Costa Rica. Once known because of its pictures of Lord Krishna and his owner allowing hindu monks eat for free, it is now a well-established chain owned by the employees with a regular flow of people (vegetarian or not) eating there. Having frequented the place for years, I consider that while clean, affordable and friendly, the quality of the food is just about decent. The dish of the day is not good and the fast food they offer is just Ok and the portions have reduced in size and quality. The salads are good although they could be more creative with the dressings. Juices, salads and fruit salads are good. They cater for vegetarians but not such a variety for vegans. Cakes are nice and eggless but have diary. Warning: the cheese they use might not be vegetarian (it might have animal rennet, the waiters did not know)
