I am a regular at Mead's. One of my favorite ways to relax on the weekend is to go to Mead's, purchase a scone and small coffee, grab the cozy table near the window, and read for an hour. The scones are huge and the coffee is refillable. They have wi-fi, and the super friendly staff doesn't mind if you take forever staring at the pastry case, nor do they rush you out. The atmosphere is small and hipster-ish, plastered with unique, handmade art, and they have a cute patio outside, weather permitting. Depending on the time you go (breakfast and lunch can get busy), it could be bustling with college kids, or creatives and freelancers, but there is never a fight for a table. I love that Gary, one of the owners, is usually around and working in the kitchen. You can tell that he is invested in his business. Back to the scones. They usually have a variety of flavors, but the pumpkin is my go-to. If you want something a bit sweeter, opt for the blueberry or strawberry. I wasn't a fan of the banana chocolate chip, but they stopped making that one and who knows if it will return. Beyond scones, Meads also offers a variety of other fabulous and vegan baked goods. If they have them, get the kale muffin. The cookies are also awesome. In regards to the actual menu (its hard to stray away from the tantalizing pastry case), they have a few standout items. Get anything with the buffalo cauliflower. My favorite is the taco salad. The Mead's Ranchero with tofu and the "Chick'n" Torta is also good. The pizza's I've tried are decent, if you're in the mood. I've never purchased a full smoothie, but sometimes they sample them and the ones I have tried are stellar. Side note: if you live locally, be sure to sign up for their rewards program. You will be back again and again.
