- Something for everyone
Since the last time I was here, this place did a major overhaul and the food improved by leaps and bounds. Today it is like three little restaurants in one. There;s a vegetarian section, a meat section, and a bakery/cafe. The restaurant itself although it can get crowded has plenty of seating and has a nice cafe vibe to it, great for a casual lunch. While they have already packed salads, my wife decided on a variation of the southwestern salad so they were happy to make her a fresh one on the spot and it tasted fresh and delicious. I had the Special Kale Pizza. The size of the slice was tremendous and it was a meal by itself. While the Kale was interesting, it wasn't New York Pizza and could use some work on the dough and cheese. We also tried the Asian noodle Salad, which had a lot of bean thread noodles and sesame in a light and pleasant asian inspired dressing, it was good, but not in the same league as something you could get in one of Boston;s Asian veg places. Overall, the food here ranges from average to good. If you're looking for an inspired vegetarian (or vegan) culinary experience, then this isn't the place for you, as nothing will blow your mind here, but if you are a vegetarian and want a nice place for a lunch with plenty of options, including for carnivore friends, than this place is a great choice. We really enjoyed our lunch at Milk St and would happily go again next time we're in Bean Town.
