- Hungarian food, pizza, dessert, ice cream. Heaven?
My love affair for Budapest started at Napfenyes. We got the menu and agreed it was smartest to just order the huge Hungarian combo plate. Our first introduction to Hungarian food was a plate of fried, cheesy, flavorful, filling, warm, comforting food. As we left, the dessert case demands your attention. We ordered cookies and a beautiful piece of layered hazelnut cake. (Caution- the cakes are not as sweet as Americans are used to, so the hazelnut cake tasted of cream and hazelnuts with little sweetener). Despite the fact that there are like a million vegan eateries in Budapest because it's actually heaven, we went back to where my love affair began. We ordered the meatiest pizza on the menu and a salad. This pizza was DELICIOUS! I can't say if it's worth ordering over the traditional hungarian food, so I suggest you go twice. Finally, a sweet, creamy, delicious ice cream cone to say goodbye...
