100% vegan! / *EDIT Some vegan options, not 100% vegan Read edit below. SCOOPS Gelato has 8 different coconut milk based gelatos to choose from! You get to choose from a cone, cup, or a whole tub (!!). A cup with two scoops costs about RM8. My favourite has got to be the chocolate chip vanilla ice cream and peanut brittle combo. Had the peanut brittle twice and both times it had a chunk of ice in it which was annoying but the ice cream was so good, I didn't mind. Kuching is famous for their pandan ice cream with gula apong (palm sugar) syrup which I miss because they're not vegan. So I was so excited to see a pandan kaya gelato and a gula apong gelato! Mix them together and they taste EXACTLY like the pandan gula apong ice creams I used to love! HOW TO GET THERE Find a building called Taman Kereta (opposite the Hills shopping mall). It's labelled UTC in the front. Take the main stairs from the front and enter the air conditioned building. On your left there is another set of doors past the tourist information counter. Exit through there and walk up the outdoor stairs. You will reach a hawker seafood open air eatery. Just walk straight all the way to the end then turn right and walk all the way to the end past ABC Seafood and Ling Loong Seafood. You will see a small Muslim seafood stall. SCOOPS is opposite that stall near the elevator. Alternatively, from any entrance of Taman Kereta find an elevator (There is only one place for the elevators) then go all the way to the top floor. SCOOPS is near the elevator. *EDIT / Visited SCOOPS today and they're ice creams were not as good as before, taste wise. Before the gelatos were bursting with flavours, but had the oreo vanilla and I could barely taste any oreos or vanillas, just sugar. Also, they had chocolate marshmallow with non-vegan marshmallows and milo flavoured gelato, which is not vegan either. Ask the person in charge which is vegan friendly.
