  • Convenient location, all the basics and more.

This is 1 of a Central Coast chain of 6 stores. This one is a bit smaller than a lot of the big box health food stores around these days, including some of the other New Leafs, but it definately seems to cover all the basic veg/an needs for groceries and household. Nice frozen foods section with a good half dozen vegan frozen pizza choices, dozen or so vegan frozen entrees, 4 to 6 vegan ice creams and a nice selection of veg and vegan frozen meats(tofurky/quorn/veggie burgers, etc.) and a smattering of frozen veg/an ethnic foods. The dairy section has a good dozen varieties of vegan milks, plus a great selection of vegan cheeses, dairy cheeses, vegan butters and lots of vegan spreads(try the vegan Annies cashew spread - it's pink and delicious). Over to the bulk section, you'll find a nice selection of beans, grains, treats, cereals, coffee and herbs, most of which are organic. In fact, the whole store strives toward organic and locally produced items, from the produce(great selection), to the beer and wine(great selection), to the household products, to the great bread selection. You can also find things like canning jars, cast iron pots and such. Throughout the store is scattered a smattering of vegan treats and packaged items. The deli is excellent, with a few nice vegan options(often vegan pesto pasta) and a great fresh sandwich option(my faves are the vegan grilled panini($7) and the baked tofu sandwich with avo and fakin bacon($8). There is also a hot food bar($7.99 per lb.) which lags for veg/ans after 11am, but has a great tofu scramble and vegan potatos for breakfast. Also, always 3 hot soup options with 1 veg and 1 vegan($4 to $7), and a nice antipasta bar($9.99 per lb.). Great salad bar($7.99 per lb.) with lots of vegan selections(baked tofu, baked tempeh, and all organic. There is a meat section here, but it is in the back and very unintrusive.
