On the last day of Durham's Vegan Challenge, I stopped at Luna. Looking at the entrees, I figured Luna had the greatest chance of also having gluten free options. The vegan challenge entree was! I tried that and shared the spicy corn nuts as an appetizer with my partner. When they brought the corn nuts out, they asked if I would like their special vegan mayo-like sauce, which was a great addition. I am so used to places just omitting the sauce for vegans instead of making a vegan friendly version. The sauce was great. I literally licked the little cup clean. My entree was beyond incredible. It was a slow cooked jackfruit in a coconut milk sauce over quinoa/plantain/pepita cakes with steamed broccoli on the side. I savored every last bit of that dish. Now I am committed to going back to try their other vegan options. Interesting tidbit...the owners created the menu before they realized or took vegan/vegetarian/gluten free options into account. It was only after they had customers asking that they realized most of the menu was accommodating.
