- Great food, but...
Places like this are a bit of an enigma to me. It thinks it's in New York City. And maybe it could be. Fantastic quality, teensey portions, high prices, and upscale atmosphere. I went there for the first time while in town for the weekend. The atmosphere is nice, though I couldn't even come close to being able to read the menu - too dark. I ordered the Tamale pie as an entree and was was somewhat staggered when they brought it out on its tiny plate. This was almost surely the smallest entree I've ever been served. And it came with nothing - no bread, salad, or the like. The flavors and preparation, though, were first rate. I had a tart cherry kombucha with it - not sure if they make it on site or not, but it was great. And dessert was a chocolate tart - also wonderful but small and expensive. For those who are willing to pay for the atmosphere (and like it - it's not really my cup of tea, but that's just me) and the great food and don't need or aren't looking for big portions, go for it. Would I go back? I wouldn't mind, but I'd probably go to Om Cafe instead - a totally different vegan option. Again, it's largely a matter of personal preference as to style, etc. There's a place for restaurants like GreenSpace Cafe - and I'm glad they exist, and promote healthy, well-prepared, creative, and tasty vegan cuisine.
