- Vegan crepe heaven
Vegan = gluten free. Enough said yet? No? Ok, how about this: pesto, salsa, hummus crepes with fresh veggies? Or how about this: fruit and sugar, plain Earth Balance and sugar, lemon and sugar, fruit and chocolate, peanut butter and bananas, fruit and pecans and coconut...? Sold on these yet? I only tried 4 of the options, but I loved each of them. The crepes are the typical thin layer of deliciousness to wrap around delicious fillings. It is a deal with the devil that they are vegan and gluten free. This is the best thing since creation itself. I would go here every weekend if I lived in NoLa. Every vegan who likes crepes or wrapped food (where the wrapper is a carb-based envelope of delicious edible-ness) needs to go here. In the French Market, there are a couple of other vegan choices, but seriously, they are all so typical of other veg options. This place, to me, is quintessential NoLa vegan fusion. It couldn't be better. Order at the register and give your name after looking at the separate vegan menu with over a dozen choices. To each one, you can customize by adding fruit or pecans. Heaven should taste this incredible. They will make your vegan, gluten-free crepes on separate griddles compared to the other ones, which have dairy and eggs and yes, bacon. It's worth a trip. The crepes range from about $5-10 depending on how much filling is in your crepe. They wrap it in half, layer on the filling, then fold it twice more before placing it in a paper cup inside of a sturdier paperboard holder. Eat and walk or stop to sit and eat. Heaven.
