- Worth a try
I love that this place has a lot of vegan options. The focus is on the fries here, burgers are just a garish, and all of their typical fries are vegan (when I went they had a pretentious kind that was fried in duck fat as the sole exception). And they offer a vegan patty, which they can make into a vegan burger (with a vegan bun!) if you inform them you're vegan. When I went they were serving 4 vegan sauces, all of which were clearly marked as such. However, the quality of the food was slightly disappointing. My companions and I tried a large variety of their fries, however they all tasted like pretty standard stuff, most of us had tried much more impressive fries elsewhere. I didn't like that they don't salt their fries, you can try to do it yourself but it's not the same. I also found that most of the vegan dipping sauces did not go well with fries: BBQ sauce or mustard and fries just don't work well together. The vegan patty, made with black beans and quinoa, was quite good, though the veganized burger definitely felt like it was missing something without the aioli. Overall, there are many better vegan-friendly restaurants in Portland but if you're looking for something new it's worth a try.
